The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds work all over the United Kingdom. They have nature reserves to protect a variety of habitats the UK can offer.
We are working the RSPB to help restore our freshwater wetlands. These habitats are very delicate and have severely suffered over the years from history of drainage and development.
The RSPB acknowledge how important our wetlands are here in the UK. They store and filter water and help control and buffer the effects of flooding. They provide us with food, fuel and plant fibre; they help to reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. They form living landscapes supporting a fascinating range of wildlife and for people to enjoy.
It is clear that restoring our wetlands could help us protect ourselves from climate change through flood control and reducing the levels of carbon in the atmosphere. This will also help generate safe endangered species numbers but sadly some species have already suffered.
The RSPB are committed to reversing this worrying trend by working with landowners and conservation groups throughout the United Kingdom. They are currently working together to protect, restore and enhance current available wetland sites.
