Q. Why does The Green Insurance Company run the scheme in the first place?
A.We are dedicated to different environmental causes and improving the world we live in. We feel our Green Grants Scheme is a great way to use this fund while also fulfilling our desire to contribute to environmental projects.
Q. What other projects do you support?
A.We are delighted to be involved in supporting work by The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland and their chimp conservation project in Uganda, The Marine Conservation Society and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. To find out more about these projects please click here. Our Grimple's Green Grants scheme is also designed to support local communities within the United Kingdom.
Q. How much funding can I apply for?
A.We are offering grants of up to £2,000 for each individual project as well as a one off grant of up to £10,000. You should only apply for what your project needs as we will ask you in the application form what you are proposing to use the funding for. If we think you have applied for more money than needed, your application will not be successful. A project asking for £100 has the same chance of being offered their funding grant as a project asking for £2,000. Please be realistic with your estimations.
Q. How will the applications be assessed? Who will assess them?
A.Our judging panel comprises of experts in their field ranging from energy experts to conservation officers and charity workers. You can see how your application will be judged by clicking here.
Q. How long will it take until I know if I have received funding for my project?
A.The closing date for applications is midnight, Wednesday 30th November 2011. We will then begin to assess applications through our judging process. You will be kept up to date through emails as you move through this process. If you are successful and are chosen to receive funding, we will send you a confirmation letter and will call you shortly after that to explain the next steps. It should take around two weeks for you to receive your well-deserved grant fund.
Q. I am unsure if my project is eligible for Grimple's Green Grants. How can I find out?
A.Grimple's Green Grants is not specific in terms of project ideas. You can check your eligibility here. Q. How will I be contacted?
A.We will contact you through email as this is quick, easy and most importantly does not use paper. If you are successful we will contact you by telephone to speak to you in person about what happens next. We will mainly contact the person whose details appear first on the form. If for some reason we cannot get in touch with the primary contact, we will use your secondary contact. Please ensure that your contact details are correct!
Q. If I am successful, how will I receive my funding?
A.If you are successful we will send you a confirmation email and will also call you to discuss any further matters such as receiving your funding. We would like to offer you your grant money by cheque but if you would prefer a different payment we can discuss this over the telephone.
Q. I applied this year but was unsuccessful, can I apply next year?
A.If you were unsuccessful this time you can definitely apply next year! We would love to hear about any of your project ideas. It might be worth taking a look through our guidance notes again to help you with your application. We may also suggest other funding bodies that you could be interested in or even take a look here.
